Established in 2015, Azerbaijani Cultural Association of Victoria Inc (ACAV) is an organisation that advances relations between Azerbaijan and Australia and also acts as a premier venue for the cooperation between Turkic communities in Australia, covering many aspects of life and the latest news, related to matters of common interests.
The ACAV is the Azerbaijani voice of Victoria’s culturally and linguistically diverse communities and it is the main link between our community, other ethnic groups, and the government.
Our unique multicultural society remains one of our state’s and our country’s greatest assets and strengths.
It stands out as a positive model for the rest of the world and provides the unique opportunity to develop and promote a better understanding of our cultural values and community needs to the broader population of Victoria
Since the early arrival of former citizens of Azerbaijan, Australia has become a home to many of us. This encouraged our people in Australia to propose and establish their own community-based and community-managed not-for-profit organisation.
Our organisation enables us to address issues of community’s concerns and also by meeting our traditional cultural needs, to make our life in our new homeland more meaningful.
In the face of rapidly growing changes in our modern life, it remains vital that Azerbaijani people have a good and positive understanding of their cultural identity, but at the same time become well-adjusted and well-integrated with Australian life, culture, and traditions. It allows our people to feel a sense of belonging and take pride in the Australian mainstream, harmonious community.
